Emergency sedation of children and young with violent behaviour in psychiatric practice

Emergency sedation, that is pharmacological management with a sedative in an acute situation, can be necessary for the safety of the patient and staff when other methods of calming are inappropriate or not working. An important question is if there are evidence-based guidelines for emergency sedation of children and young with violent or aggressive behaviour.
