Proposals and steps in assessments

Our reports are important for the health and welfare of the individual as well as important from a social perspective. The main reason for undertaking an assessment is to determine whether a meassure is effective or whether it is more effective in comparison with standard care.

Sources of topic suggestions for assessment

Suggestions for topics warranting assessment, e.g. treatment methods or other procedures, are received from many stakeholders, for example from professionals working in the health and medical services, social services, government authorities and/or agencies.

Steps in the assessment

  1. Definition of question:
    • forming the question in a structured way and determining the selection criteria for studies to be included
  2. Choice of literature:
    • searching the scientific literature determining which articles address the question
  3. Review of studies:
    • assessing the risk of bias in the studies
  4. Grading of evidence and conclusions:
    • collating the results from the included studies
    • assessing the certainty of the evidence
    • drawing conclusions
