Doppler ultrasonography in the evaluation of suspected testicular torsion

Acute scrotal pain can be caused by testicular torsion. The blood flow to the testicle is then impaired and a worst-case scenario is total loss of blood supply. The testicle can then shrink (undergo atrophy) and lose its function. Suspected testicular torsion is a condition that requires urgent treatment and accurate diagnostics.
