Ongoing Projects

SBU assess relevant and well-conducted research and investigate what effect different interventions have, if there are any risks or ethical problems, and what is most cost-effective in the areas of health care, dentistry, social services, and within the areas of functional disability and work environment.

Planned to be published: Quarter 2, 2026 Registration no: 2025/1092

Background

In June 2025, SBU received a government assignment to prepare support for individuals vulnerable to prostitution and related target groups (A2025/00637). According to the assignment, SBU will provide the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare, with the scientific knowledge that they need in order to develop new knowledge support for professionals in social services and health care.

SBU will therefore generate a systematic map of systematic reviews that have examined assessment tools used within social services and health care to identify individuals exposed to prostitution, human trafficking for sexual purposes, or sexual exploitation through the dissemination of images/films.

This report is part of the overarching SBU project: Support for individuals vulnerable to prostitution and related target groups (SBU 2025/1092).

Aim

The purpose of this project is to map existing synthesized research (systematic reviews) on assessment tools used within health care and social services to identify individuals who are exposed to prostitution, human trafficking for sexual purposes, or sexual exploitation through the dissemination of images or videos.

The outcome of the report will be an interactive map consisting of the existing synthesized research on assessment tools that have been studied in order to identify individuals exposed to prostitution, human trafficking for sexual purposes, and sexual exploitation through the dissemination of images or videos.
