The Swedish government has given SBU the task to review available evidence relating to the treatment of diastasis recti. Diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles is characterized by an increase distance between the abdominal muscles due to a widening of the linea alba. The condition is commonly associated with pregnancy and at least a partial resolution of the widening is usually seen postpartum. Some women experience persistent problems, including pain and functional impairment.
