Performance of service activities by personnel without medical training

Service activities (example given cleaning, laundry, handling of meals and stocks and patient transports) can be performed by specifically hired service personnel without medical training instead of nursing staff. The question that has been asked to the SBU Enquiry Service is what effect this has on patients and nurses.

What effect does performance of service activities by personnel without medical training have on patients and nurses?

SBU Enquiry response consists of systematic literature searches to highlight studies that can address questions received by the SBU Enquiry Service from Swedish healthcare or social service providers. Relevant references are compiled by an SBU staff member, in consultation with an external expert when needed. The quality of the studies identified is not systematically reviewed.
