Systematic reviews evaluating the effects of different methods of applying new knowledge in practice have concluded that without exception the methods have little effect. However, such reviews have seldom explored the potential influence on outcomes of the setting in which the methods have been applied.

Aim
To analyse the effects of various methods of implementation of psychiatric guidelines or evidence-based psychiatric knowledge within the primary care sector.
